Sharlene Fry
Sharlene Fry didn't start off with a vision, she started off helping
a friend with some research. Sharlene walked into the Arizona School
of Massage Therapy while investigating massage schools for a friend
and before she left, she has signed up to start with DA04 in May
of 2001. Her friend will graduate with DA05 in March 2002.
Although Sharlene, a single mother of four children, knew that
going to school full-time would be rough, she not only stuck it
out, she excelled. She maintained a 4.0 GPA and was in the High
Five Club six weeks in a row. Sharlene was always available to help
classmates with their classes and was admired by many of the fellow
students, the staff and faculty.
Sharlene graduated in December of 2001 and didn't waste any time
getting into the massage therapy field. She has been incredibly
busy since graduation; she works one day a week for a chiropractor,
she started her own private practice called Serene Therapeutic with
two of her DA04 classmates and she TA's for Trigger Point, Reflexology,
and Injury (her favorite). She has substituted for almost every
other modality, and has filled in for a few PTAs as well.
She also participated in the recent IHRSA (International Health
Racquet and Sportclub Association) Trade Show in Phoenix at the
Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools booth, giving
free seated massages to vendors and visitors. She worked on over
35 people in the two days she participated and was a huge hit!
Sharlene has kept current on her continuing education as well. She
is certified in Hot Rock and Raindrop Therapy, is studying Herbology,
and is also studying for her Holistic Health Practitioner certification.
She is also a student of Reiki and plans on gaining even more knowledge
and skills.
When asked what her favorite part of attending ASMT was, she stated
that the variety of classes were a huge bonus, and also the fact
that she didnt feel like just another number at a school.
The staff and faculty all knew her by name and were friendly and
outgoing, making her journey all that much easier.
