Heidi Madden

Heidi (Manker) Madden graduated from the first Professional Massage Therapy Program class of the Utah Valley campus of the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools in April of 1998. Upon graduating, Heidi relocated to California and began the process of finding employment as a massage therapist. She contacted the Glen Ivy Hot Springs and Day Spa in Corona.

Heidi remembers the spa manager initially giving her a "cold" reception, insisting the spa "was not hiring at this time." Not wanting to back down from the possibility of finding a great job, Heidi asked if she could just submit her resume for consideration at a later date. According to Heidi, when learning where she had received her training, the spa manager’s reaction went something like this:

"You are a graduate of the Utah College of Massage Therapy? That school produces the best therapists! We have a few UCMT graduates working here with us now… they are our best therapists! Why don’t you call me next week Heidi and we can set up an interview… we could use another graduate from your school!"

Since the time that this story was originally submitted to the Career Services Department, Heidi has continued her career as a massage therapist, working with the prestigious Bellezza Salon and Day Spa in Laguna Niguel, California as well as the Spectrum Athletic Club in Fullerton, California.
